Meetings with parents and Monitoring Groups meetings
 in “Ahmet Zogu” and “Halit Coka” schools in Bathore

Meetings with parents were organised in “Ahmet Zogu” school on 15 December, and in “Halit Coka” school, on 16 December 2015, in the framework of Fair Childhood, GEW-Foundation “Education Instead of Child Labour” Project implementation.

Parents of children dropped out and at risk to drop out from both schools, subject of concrete work in the framework of this Project implementation, as well as teachers, pupils and parents, members of Monitoring Groups, took part in both meetings.

Headmasters of both schools, Azem Kovaci, “Ahmet Zogu” school and Mahmud Ajazi, “Halit Coka” school, as well as Chairman of FSASH, Xhafer Dobrushi, took also part in these meetings.

Heads of schools Monitoring Groups, Bukurosh Hoxha, “Ahmet Zogu” school and Ilir Hoda, “Halit Coka” school, held reports being focused especially on collaboration with parents and their role in turning children back to school and keeping all pupils in school. They mentioned good examples of many parents, who have reflected, after concrete work of teachers and classmate pupils with them, returning their children in school, but also cases when parents don’t allow their children to attend the school.

Parents’ representatives Kujtim Hysneli, in “Ahmet Zogu” school, and Sokol Koldashi in “Halit Coka” school, spoke about role of parents, members of Monitoring Groups, in each school and efforts of teachers and pupils to convince parents of pupils dropped out and at risk to drop out from school to bring their children back to school. They also mentioned financial difficulties which constrain many parents to ask from their children to work with them or on their own and assist their families to survive.

In “Ahmet Zogu” school, parents, Agim Neziri, father of pupil Xhesiana Neziri, Fatmir Shupli, father of pupil Albana Shupli, Mine Cani, mother of pupil Bleona Cani, thanked teachers for their commitment and collaboration to bring their children in school and promised also to give their contribution in convincing other parents to bring their children in school.


Pupil Bleona Cani, told her story and expressed her happiness that she is now attending the school regularly.


Parent Ramadan Gjoka, father of pupil Marsida Gjoka, was invited to come in that meeting, but he has not accepted to come, saying that it is not possible for their family to bring their daughter in school, because their family need her help to survive.


Pupil Andeta Cani told the story working with Marsida and her parents who have a negative opinion for bringing her to school. We failed this time, concluded Andeta, but we will not give up, we will continue our efforts to bring Marsida in school.

Parent Drita Kola, member of Monitoring Group 2, told her story working with pupils Xhesiana Neziri and Marsida Neziri, together with teacher Klodiana Gjergo, contacting their parents, insisting to bring both of them in school, providing some assistance for them, especially for text books and school materials and son on. She said that they are happy that Xhesiana and Marsida are nor attending the school regularly.

In “Halit Cota” school, Parent Marjeta Kamberi, mother of pupil Endri Kamberi, said that her son dropped out from school for two months, during September and October, because of their family needs, but, after contacts with teachers and pupils from his class, now Endri is back in school having also good results in learning.

Parent Burbuqe Hysa, mother of pupil Florian Hysa, told her sacrifices for bringing her son in school, also because of the fact that he is sick and she is constrained to bring him herself in school every day.

Parent Demir Isha, told that his son, Akil Isha, didn’t want to come to school himself, but after the insistence of his classmates and his teachers, now he is back in school and he promised that he will continue to attend the school regularly.

Nazmie Peposhi, mother of Xhemis Peposhi, and Kujtime Fatmiri, mother of Blerta Fatmiri, appreciated the work of teachers and pupils with their children and promised to bring them regularly to school.

Parents Hazis Lushi, father of pupil Eriol Lushi, Bukurie Nika, mother of pupil Adrian Nika, Dilaver Baja, father of pupil Kujdesi Baja, spoke about the difficulties their families face, but at the same time they appreciated the help for textbooks and other school supplies, also promising to keep their children in school.

Headmasters of “Ahmet Zogu” school, Azem  Kovaci, and Mahmud Ajazi, as well as other teachers, parents and pupils, from Monitoring groups, spoke about their experience working with parents, results achieved, problems they are facing with some pupils and so on.

Monitoring Groups meetings were also organised in this framework in both schools.

Representatives from 8 Monitoring Groups, teachers Arta Uta, Izet Nabolli, Dhurata Vathi, Valentina Zhivanaj, in “Ahmet Zogu” school and Violeta Cerpja, Qefsere Grifi, Rabije Damzi, Kujtim Bukaqi, in “Halit Coka” school, spoke about concrete work they are doing with pupils dropped out and at risk to drop out from school in their respective groups and conclusions drawn from the discussions in the meetings with parents.

They also mentioned results achieved:
Another pupil in “Ahmet Zogu” school and 2 more pupils in “Halit Coka” school are withdrawn from working and retuned to school, during the period from the previous meeting, as well as 16 more pupils in "Ahmet Zogu" school and 14 more pupils in "Halit Coka" school, are now totally integrated in school, being considered out of risk to drop out from school.

They also mentioned difficulties they are facing, but they expressed their commitment  to work hard and make possible keeping all pupils in school. They explained that all teachers of both schools are engaged concretely in additional work and activities, to improve the situation, appreciating GEW Foundation Project assistance and FSASH/SPASH commitment, as a direct support for their work.

Speaking in “Ahmet Zogu” school, on behalf of both FSASH and SPASH, the Chairmen of FSASH Xhafer Dobrushi, appreciated the work done and results achieved.
He joined all other speakers in these meetings appreciating the assistance from Fair Childhood, GEW-Foundation “Education Instead of Child Labour” and promised that both FSASH and SPASH will continue their commitment to support teachers in their engagement to withdraw children from working and bring them back to school.
